Language, landscape and social relations structure a unique world view that is hard to set aside. Change countries, or even cities, and things may seem the same but never are. The familiar is subtly changed. People behave and think differently, and suddenly your core identity – who you are and how you fit into the world – is no longer so certain.

I have started to explore this visually in various way: still lifes that combine objects and images from several countries; mementos that travel with me or take up home in one country as a link with another; gatherings of friends and family.
