LIght on the water: Cadgwith, 4th November 2003 6:55am - 12 noon

The first of several early sequences shot on film with a medium format camera and timed manually, with watch, cable release and notebook.

Not only did I get very cold in the process but these early sets proved labour-intensive and problematic to scan, colour balance and align consistently. Later ones were shot at timed intervals with a digital camera, which simplified the whole process.

Overall, the sequences I have recorded are intended less as photographs in their own right and more as a reference for myself and a way of exploring aspects of the world that are relatively untouched by human beings.

You may find them interesting, and I guess they sit within a tradition of investigation among landscape artists since Constable.
