Between countries

We spend great chunks of our lives travelling – to work and back, on holiday, as tourists, or simply keeping in touch with dispersed families and friends. It gets quite scary if you start adding it all up.

The ease and speed with which we can move from one place to another, from one country to another, is extraordinary…but the cultural disconnect that results to can be quite disconcerting.

We travel with one set of values and assumptions to arrive somewhere where perhaps they no longer hold good…which presents us with a choice: to cling to our own cultural identity and remain foreigners, or let go, and see the world through other eyes.
